Unless otherwise instructed, you should wear your removable appliance all the time except when playing sports and cleaning the appliance. You should keep the brace in the hard plastic container provided by the orthodontic practice.
Do not play with the appliance in your mouth – this can break the appliance. It might feel strange initially, but you will soon get used to it. The mouth also tends to produce more saliva than usual, but this tends to go after a few days. You will be surprised how quickly you adapt and soon no one will notice any difference in you speech.
If you experience any irritation of the cheek, gum or tongue, the orthodontist can adjust the appliance to make it more comfortable. Replace a lost or broken appliance at the earliest opportunity. The more you wear the appliance, the quicker your treatment should take.
