Dr Zachie Fourie
Dr. Zachie Fourie was born and raised in the charming town of Heidelberg, where he also matriculated. He earned his dental degree from the University of Pretoria in June 2001. During his community service with the South African Military, Dr. Fourie pursued a part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics at the University of Pretoria, which he successfully completed in 2002.
In 2003, he began his career in a private practice in the Netherlands, concurrently serving as a lecturer at the Department of Dentistry at the University Medical Center Groningen. During this period, he also engaged in research at the Department of Orthodontics and published his first article in the American Journal of Orthodontics. In 2007, Dr. Fourie commenced a four-year full-time orthodontic training program at the same institution, culminating in his qualification as an orthodontic specialist in 2011.
One month after qualifying as an orthodontist, he was awarded a Doctorate in Medical Science (PhD) from the University of Groningen for his thesis titled "Application of CBCT in Facial Imaging Science." Throughout this research project, he authored or co-authored 17 scientific articles.
After gaining valuable experience abroad, Dr. Fourie returned to South Africa with his wife and children. He currently practices as a full-time orthodontist at Fourie Orthodontics in Waterkloof Glen, Pretoria. His expertise is recognised through his previous roles as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as the European Journal of Orthodontics, The Angle Orthodontist, and the American Journal of Orthodontics.
Dr. Fourie has a passion for continuing education and regularly attends orthodontic congresses and reads professional journals to stay abreast of the latest technologies and techniques, which he eagerly incorporates into his practice to provide exceptional care to his patients.
